Donald asks…

How can I make Firefox submit my search queries to Google.com not Google Japan?

When I do a google search via Firefox's inbuilt search box, it shows me results from Google Japan. My companies internet gateway is in Japan, so I guess it thinks I'm in Japan. How can I make it return results from plain google.com, or google.com.au?

Ling answers:

Ok. What you need to do is go to http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en then click on the one you want.
Good Luck.

Nancy asks…

My web browser suddenly takes me to Google Japan??

I've never had this happen, but one morning I wake to check my usual sites, ect and as I enter the internet, my usual English Google suddenly goes to Japan's Google... There are question marks for all the words and my searches turn up nothing readable. And when I visit some sites that offer pre veiwing of new tv shows, it says something like "Can't show to overseas veiwers" I have no clue why this has happened or how to correct it... Anyone?

Ling answers:

Probably a Google glitch. If Google was your homepage, check your homepage settings again. It may have the letters ".co.ja" at the end (I mean the website URL), so just delete that bit and replace it with .com.
