So, will my grandma do fine without English skills?
So, I've already asked a question if it were bad or not: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhXfo_5usOVrDmOJWReoxzrsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091121115747AARKmvg (please read it for the scoop on my grandma and the incidents)
Judging on those two incidents and several others over the past few years, about 8 or 9 of her years living her, on and off in China and here, but mostly living here, it may be a bi tough. So will my grandma make the rest of her life easy in the US, with no English skills? She rides the bus once in a while, used to a lot often, and sometimes goes to the grocery outlet next to her retirement center, and pays without knowing English. She knows how to say "I don't know" in English and uses it a lot. She pronounces it like "Ay dun no."
She will be fine, but will be lonely
If all other people in retirement centre are talking etc she won't be able to join in. I'm sure they'll try to include her though. Just make sure you visit so she can have a talk!
Dan Brown discovery, conspiracy, plot - all works out fine!
