Ruth asks…
French country style?
I have a very small(400sq. ft.) cottage that I would like to decorate in the french country style. I love a more sparse and eclectic look and hope to include some antiques. There are 3 rooms...galley kitchen, fairly good size bath and a main rm/bedroom with a large stone fireplace. Any ideas on where to look for funiture and design ideas. Money and a budget is an issue so please don't send me to high-end spots. Love them but can't afford them. Thanks for the ideas...I look forward to your answers.
Edit: Yowza...I've looked at their catalog before. How's the quality and construction? I like the styles, but I don't know anyone who has order from them before...Thanks.

Ling answers:
IKEA has some wonderful items that work well with French country.. Like the black wrought iron daybed with scroll work...and the panelled bookcases.
Most fabric stores have french pastural scened fabric (toile)....a little can go a long way.
Plants! When I've visited Paris I always notcied flowers and green plants.

Charles asks…
can someone translate for me this french song to english?
ok so here is the song named (anna le soleil) by tete.
and here is the lyrics in french and i want it in english.
Anna Lee Soleil
Eve de Constantine,
Lit dans les paumes
Les secrets et les peines
Anna Lee Soleil
Veille, tient officine,
Onguents et baumes,
Elixirs par dizaines,
Ooh...Ooh...Ann' Lee Soleil
Tous les jours
Y compris soir et week-end
Ooh...Ooh...Ann' Lee Soleil
Entourloupes et consorts,
Vol ou à peu près
Un peu de réconfort,
( Paul ) à moindre frais.
Comme vice, avouez,
Dame on a connu pire
Les huiles ne
Le lui envoient pas dire
Anna lie marc de café,
Cartes anciennes,
Bijoux antiques,
Am-Ex, Gold ou espèces
Anna lit
Regards de côté,
Soupirs concernés
Autant d' aubaines que ces coeurs en détresse
Ooh...Ooh...Ann' Lee Soleil
Tous les jours
Y compris soir et week-end
Ooh...Ooh...Ann' Lee Soleil
Fortune, amours,
Résultants sous huitaine
Extra-lucide
Quant aux failles de ses pairs
Est-ce bien licite ?
Va savoir sous ses airs...
Ooh...Ooh...Ann' Lee Soleil
Tous les jours
Y compris soir et week-end
Ooh...Ooh...Ann' Lee Soleil
Fortune, amour,
Résultats sous huitaine
Entourloupes et consorts
Anna dit j' adore.
(Merci à lulu pour cettes paroles)
thanks for the help in advance.
and if you happen to know ant website that translates then please add it in, thanks alot.

Ling answers:
Here is the translation: it's not a perfect transltaion but good enough
Anna Lee Sun
Eve de Constantine,
Reads in the palms
Secrecies and sorrows
Anna Lee Sun
Take care, holds dispensary,
Ointments and balsams,
Elixirs per tens,
Ooh… Ooh… Ann' Lee Sun
Every day
Including evening and weekend
Ooh… Ooh… Ann' Lee Sun
Entourloupes and consorts,
Flight or about
A little comfort,
(Paul) with less expenses.
Like defect, acknowledge,
Ram one knew worse
Oils
Do not send to him to say
Anna binds coffee marc,
Old charts,
Ancient jewels,
Am-Ex, Gold or species
Anna reads
Sidelong looks,
Sighs concerned
As many aubaines as these hearts in distress
Ooh… Ooh… Ann' Lee Sun
Every day
Including evening and weekend
Ooh… Ooh… Ann' Lee Sun
Fortune, loves,
Resulting under about eight
Clairvoyant
As for the faults of its pars
Is this quite licit?
Will know under its airs…
Ooh… Ooh… Ann' Lee Sun
Every day
Including evening and weekend
Ooh… Ooh… Ann' Lee Sun
Fortune, love,
Results under about eight
Entourloupes and consorts
Anna known as I adore.
Thanks to lulu for these lyrics

Chris asks…
In the Julia Child French Chef DVD's, she uses a long handled curved fork of some kind.?
I think the fork is 3 pronged, and it is curved, and she uses it to smash and stir things, Does anyone know what it is called and/or where I might purchase such a thing? I don't know if it's an antique, or what.

Ling answers:
It's called a cooking fork and they are kind of hard to find. Lots of 2 prongs available. You might check ebay for a nice old 3 prong model.

Sharon asks…
I have an antique bayonet with (i believe) French writing on it. Is there some1 i can ask q's about it to?
The only part of the script i am sure i can read correctly is 1877. The rest of the words seem to be something like this: mone de olnmes de st etiennes moars 1877, all written in flourishing script. The bayonet has a wood/golden metal handle with a belt strap. The blade is a wedge design, with a flat back on it. Any help is appreciated!!
I can't find a translator for uzbek. Any sites you would recommend?

Ling answers:
In my opinion you believe right. St. Etienne is a city in France. The moars preceding 1877 is Mars,
month of March in French Can not make anything on the mone de olnmes.
This city has always had a tradition in weaponry since the middle ages. In 1665, a Royal Arms Depot was created in Paris to store military weapons made in Saint-Étienne. The Royal Arms Manufacture was created in 1764.
Hope this helps.
