Here are a few suggestions:
Join your local Freecycle group.
Look in junk shops/auction houses, 2nd hand shops
Post wanted ads in the free to advertise papers
Look at your local tip, if they sell to the general public.
You may find that you can remove the glass from a broken mirror and use the frame for that.

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN RETRACTABLE TOOTHPICK S.MORDON & CO?
Hello,
please don't be rude with your answers because I just want a mature and polite opinion, even if it will not be a good opinion.
My mother likes to restore antique things and sell them on ebay. She puts lot of efforts in it, she is very honest, friendly, polite, she post fantastic pictures of the things she is selling and she post the things the same day and well packaged.
This man bought an antique Victorian box and left her a neutral feedback that I think hurt me more than could have hurt her. This box in particular WAS NOT restored and wasn't a secret from the description. It was sold as not restored.
Considering the fact that the man could have been more polite and could have asked for a refund that my mother would have immediately provided, do you think this neutral feedback is right?
"A baby penguin could have put more effort into restoring it...a waste of £60"
She has 1257 positive feedback and 1 neutral feedback (from this man).
This is the link of the box, so you can have a look for yourselves:

Maybe an expert can judge better than me.
Thank you.

An absolute ass, is what you've got there.
I'm a power seller and have been one for about 5 years now. This is why so many good sellers are leaving. We can't leave any negative feedback for the person and there's no recourse when someone is nasty like this.
The pics are quite detailed and good. Really, it's his fault if he didn't ask questions, ask for more pics, etc.
She just got one of the jerks out there in ebayland. It happens to the best of us. Just try to shrug it off and move on (easier said than done..believe me..I know!)

Laura asks…
I want to buy a nice antique fireplace?
I'm looking for an antique fireplace, checked around and found this amazing piece: http://www.britainsheritage.co.uk/antique-fireplaces/marble-surround/AMBS50-victorian-rouge-marble-fireplace.htm but its soooooooooo expensive. Know where i can get something that looks like that but is about a tenth of the cost... or am i asking too much?

Ling answers:
This is nice and less than half that price

Maria asks…
Need someone who is good with antique furniture.?
My boyfriends dad is selling this old looking desk. It looks like an antique writing desk which has a black stamped leather top with gold pressed emblems on it in a pattern. It also has peg legs with very tiny wheels at the bottom and on the front has three drawers, two deep ones on the sides and one shallow long one in the middle. The wood is I think was you would call "dove tailed" or it is fitted like a puzzle piece and is solid wood.
I haven't yet been able to take a picture of it but I did find a similar one online. It looks almost exactly as the one in the link except for there is no barred decoration below them.
What I'm wondering is around when it could have been made? I did find a serial number stamped on the bottom and also an inspector stamp but nothing else. I know the website says circa 1890 but I'm not sure.
He is willing to sell it to me for $100, I'm not so much interested in the real value but more in the look of it, but I would like to know maybe an estimate to see if I'm getting a deal or not. The condition is OK, a few scratches on the top from use and you can tell that someone tried to paint the edges in gold, and also the right drawer was very sticky but upon switching it with the other, it's a bit smoother. Sorry for the long description, thank you (:
Here is the link to the similar one I found. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.elisabethjamesantiques.co.uk/new/productimages/victorian%2520walnut%2520writing%2520desk%2520by%2520jas%2520schoolbred%2520a_1163630426.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.elisabethjamesantiques.co.uk/Antique-Office-Furniture/antique-writing-desk-antique-19th-Century-ladies-writing-desk-by-JAS-Schoolbred.htm&usg=__6JQFfdWMI-N9OCwZH2Vas6Q5hNM=&h=375&w=500&sz=43&hl=en&start=11&tbnid=WJ9VtDhtgC60aM:&tbnh=98&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dvictorian%2Bstyle%2Bwriting%2Bdesk%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DX
I also found another that has the exact same top with the circular edges. http://ebayimages.goantiques.com/dbimages/JVR5449/JVR5449U02120801.jpg

I purchase a lot of furniture, both vintage and antique. I would snag this desk at $100 even if it is a reproduction.

Mark asks…
UK: Is there an antique junkyard/salvage yard near to Manchester or inbetween Manchester to Bolton?
We're looking for a Victorian or Edwardian fireplace and also a stone lintel as we need to fit a side door into a stone listed building. We might also need a few other stuff like Victorian or Edwardian taps and radiators. Anyway, does anyone know of an antique junkyard/salvage yard near to Manchester or inbetween Manchester to Bolton (even in the surroundings of Bolton)?
Just in case it helps anyone reading this question I've discovered another http://www.insitumanchester.com/
Thanks for the answer below though - good site and much appreciated.
