Victorian Fairy Garden/Steampunk bedroom ideas?
Links more than welcome. I'm moving into a small dreary white plain room, and I bought an ADORABLE antique vanity area, which unfortunately matches nothing I own. My personality (I'm a girl) is more robots, dinosaurs, rainbows, so I thought a nice mix of faerie garden and steampunk would go well.
Ideas on decorations?

Mandy asks…
decorating a victorian house...?
I'm in the process of purchasing my favorite house in the world, an 1860's victorian house. My husband is going to do all the restoring and I'm doing all the decorating. I just wish that I had pictures of various Victorian or "country cottage" style rooms. Are there any good websites that showing pictures like this? I like antique designs, and I like either clean bright colors & styles (lilacs, baby blues, crystal, white wood) or dark victorian styles ( plums, burgundy, hunter green, cast iron, dark wood) so either would be great. I want to see all my options so I can get it together here. So what are some good websites to see ideas? Has anyone out there restored a Victorian house who can tell me about it?

Ling answers:
I just found this website a few weeks ago:
http://victoriana.com
They seem to cover a broad range of topics. Some of it is the foo-foo Victorian stuff that's not really period-appropriate, but you can sift through the website and get some good ideas that you'll really like.
You can also go to
http://www.houseblogs.net
which is a sort of community of DIYers and homeowners who blog about their experiences while restoring their homes. You can search by house type and location, too.

DIY bedroom ideas?
The theme is Victorian floral and antiques. Mostly I am looking for things to make to hang on the wall. Ideas for decorating mirrors, curtains, stuff to hide my ugly beat-up doors, (I can't paint or stain them) easy storage ideas...
Thanks!!!

For the walls get some oval picture frames and old photos. They don't have to be relatives ,you can find them at yard sales ,antique shops. While you are there look for an old armoire for storage.Check out craigslist.com

Help finding Neo-Victorian/Harpsichord music?
Emilie Autumn has some pieces in which she plays the Harpsichord and sings little ditties that sound pseudo-Victorian. I'm in love with these songs but I can't seem to find anything similar. While she does, indeed, have a very unique style I'm looking for music that works from the same concept: an antique style of music that has a darker, maybe humorous feel to it. I'm familiar with artists like Voltaire who perform dark cabaret music but I can't seem to find anything that seems to actually draw from the Victorian era.
If you could help me find something evenly vaguely similar to what I've mentioned above, I would be very grateful. Thank you much.

Ling answers:
The Mediaeval Baebes would closely resemble that style of music.

I just want some input on a 2 semi wreck that I was in about 5 years ago....?
I was sitting still preparing to make a left turn when a fully loaded semi rear ended my little Corsica sending me into oncoming traffic where I was struck by another semi. Adding to this, I was fresh from leaving my first hubbs after 10 plus years married, and had a antique victorian bed frame running from the trunk to the drivers seat, the rails bent and didn't go through the cheap Corsica bucket seats,,,,,AND I walked away, was a bit sore and got a $5,000 settlement......I just think about it sometimes and know I'm lucky, just wished to get some input on it tonight...............

It was not your time to go because you have a further purpose in life. Luck has nothing to do with it ... Your Guardian Angel was watching out for you that day.
