Carol asks…

What are your favorite china dish patterns?

I was looking around eBay and replacements.com, trying to find some good china sets, but there are so many to choose from! Any ideas? I'm leaning toward the MTH1 pattern by Mt. Hira, it's so pretty, but I can't find really anything about Mt. Hira so I don't know what kind of quality it is. So, fill me in~ What are your favorite china patterns???

Ling answers:

Oooh...fun question!

My favorite has got to be the Ansley. It is so gorgeous and has so much history behind it! My grandma had Ansley, maybe I'm biased.

Or Lenox...really pretty too. In any event, have fun shopping!

P.S. Edish.com is another wonderful resource if you aren't familiar with them yet...definitely worth checking out!

Betty asks…

How do i find my Noritake china pattern?

I inheirited vintage Noritake and there is no pattern name on it, but I know it's from the later half of the 1940's. And it has gold trim w/ black detail, like greek key almost, and the china is two-tone cream and white.
I went to replacement.com, but can't go thru all those patterns and some didn't even have pics.
By the way there is a large "M" on the bottom.
Any suggestions?
thanks, but these answers are not helpful.

Ling answers:

Www.Noritake.com or www.replacements.com (that might be just replacement-singular)

Sandy asks…

Where can I locate a replacement bone china dinner plate ??

The name of the pattern is 'Mayfair'. The pattern is red roses and yellow carnations around the very edges with a red line on the rim. The service says 'made in Staffordshire, England' on the reverse.

Ling answers:

this website is exactly for what you are looking for.

Jenny asks…

Can anyone identify a china pattern based on description only???

I'm hoping to buy some replacement pieces for my mother-in-law as a Xmas gift, and though I've eaten on her dinnerware many times (including this past Thanksgiving) I neglected to check the back for the name of the pattern. So, here's what it looks like: Plates are CREAM colored and rather heavy and thick. They have PINK flowers in the center (not just on the rims). These flowers have a "brushy" painted look & have few petals (more like a dogwood flower, not at all like a rose or peony). The plates are rather deep and bowl-like, as opposed to being shallow. Knowing my mother-in-law, these are probably NOT an expensive set...probably something she bought in the 1960's and likely discontinued. Well, does it sound like anything you've seen? Thanks for any and all help!!!!!

Ling answers:

If no one on here comes up with anything for you, try to sneak a peak at the bottoms and see what is there. Then, go to http://www.replacements.com/china/manu/a.htm -- they have everything that has ever been made. They will also help you identify patterns if you could snap a shot of it. And lastly, browse through a good will or other used goods place and see if you can find it. A lot of dinnerware like that was sold a grocery stores on a piece a week basis and it turns up a lot. Good Luck. If you can find it she'll think you are really neat and sweet to take the time.
