Joseph asks…

How much is a Royal Worcester fine bone china mini dish?

It is in a dark green box with gold edge. The dish it's self is white, with a gold planted trim. The pattern is 2 flowers a yellow and a pink colour. The stamp mark on the back is a C with 51 inside the C.

Ling answers:

I can't tell you its value - except that any china that is/was made in England ( mostly in Staffordshire) is increasing in value because the major factories; ie Wedgwood Royal Doulton Johnson Bros etc etc have gone out of business. I was born and raised in Stoke-On-Trent which is where all the English Bone China was made. When the China Industry started to 'go under' the major factories took over the smaller ones rather than have them go kapput..Royal Worcester ranks among some of the finest - and any china depends on its condition as to its value. If the C with the #51 is written with red paint - its probably the mark of the worker who either painted on the flowers or the Gilder ( gold trim) Am not sure about this mark but as the people who decorated the china worked on piece work they always had an identifying mark to distinguish their work in order to get paid.If the pattern is a transfer (not freehand) then the mark could be a limited edition mark. Your best bet as to its value is to take it to a antique dealer who specializes in bone china making sure that whatever value they place on it - its probably worth more! As they will be hoping you will sell it to them for resale. Or - go to your local library and ask for a book on Royal Worcester china

Donna asks…

How do you get the tea stains out of the bottom of a fine bone china tea cup?

I have tried bi carb soda, baking powder and vinegar. Have also heard that you could use bleach but that seems unhealthy. Any ideas anyone?

Ling answers:

Use salt.
Rinse the cup so the salt has something to stick to, then sprinkle generous amounts of salt where the stains are.
Just use your fingers to rub the salt into the stains.
The salt will turn brown so just rinse well with water.
The first time I tried this method I was amazed at how clean my cups were and it's much healthier than using bleach!
