What kind of bone ash is used to produce bone china?

Bone china is made of combination of ash bone ect.. just want to know what kind of ash used? If animal ash, what kind of animal?

Cows because there are so many bones from processing their meat commercially. In old days it was cows, pigs, horses or whatever else they had around.

Worth of a fine bone china bell with a picture of Coventry Cathedral on it by Healacraft of England?

The bell is white with the cathedral done in burgundy. The words, "Coventry Cathedral", are in the upper right of the picture. There is a gold stripe around the base of the handle and the base of the bell. There is a dot of gold at the center of the end of the handle. The diameter of the base is approximately 3". The height is approximately 5". The Healacraft emblem, fine bone china and the made in England are on the inside of the bell. It is not signed or have any maker's mark that we could find.

Can I put fine bone china in a washing machine?

I have recently inherited a beautiful hand painted fine bone china tea set. Unfortunately, i cannot afford a dish washer and want to get the set very clean as it has been lying dusty in my grandmothers drawers for a number of years. Will I damage it if I place it in my washing machine instead - On a wool wash of course!...

I'm registering for my wedding china...and I want to know what brands are well known and make quality durable china. I'm looking for bone china or stoneware because I heard that is the most durable. Also, I really like to blue and white patterns

The English. I collect bone china tea cups, I have many with an English Hallmark on them. I also collect Wedgewood. It is not bone china, but it is beautiful, and English.
