Nancy asks…

Where can I find Antique Engagement Rings in MA?

I'm essentially willing to travel anywhere in MA for the right ring, but I'm looking for recommendations on the best antique jewelers in the state.

Seeking something timeless & classic, but unique!

Ling answers:

Jen,
my advice to you is try James or any of the stores in this page

http://123diamond.co.uk/Online_diamond_stores.html

James has a very unique collections and antique rings as well as GIA certified diamonds(the best) for 50% less than any street Jeweler.
And at the end the ring will travel you not you traveling to the ring :)

You can also find some coupons you can use for further discounts on the same site

Linda asks…

Where to start with antique engagement rings?

I just don't know where to look, can internet sites be trusted? Also, I want a ring thats actually worth something, but I like the idea of a ruby ring, and they don't seem to be worth much at all.

What era, in your opinion has the best rings?

Ling answers:

Look for antique stores via the net then go to the local ones 1910-35 seem to be more ornate as well as the mid 1800. Rubies are worth less then diamonds but settings also play a role.

When looking at antique shops you will find prices vary so shop around enjoy the hunt and pick what will appeal to you long term a wedding ring etc. Is meant to be a life time purchase not an investment opportunity.

Chris asks…

Where can I find legit filigree/antique engagement rings?

I'm trying to find a place online/store that has legit filigree rings. From what I've been told Ebay is actually a decent place but I'd like to know if there is any specialty places. I'm looking to spend from 500 to 2K. Any extra info would be appreciated.

Ling answers:

I would recommend checking out ebay as well. However you can go to Google.com and search for "antique engagement rings" or "filigree rings" and you will find several sites. If you're just looking for antique-looking filigree engagement rings, but are interested in buying new, not true antique jewelry, you can go to www.overstock.com because I've seen some cool antique-looking filigree rings there. I've put some other links below. Good luck!

Sandy asks…

Where is the best place to shop for antique/estate engagement rings in Boston?

My boyfriend and I are shopping for a "recycled" engagement ring in the Boston area. Which stores have the largest selection of estate and antique jewelry we could go look at?

Ling answers:

Try the Jeweler's District in Boston (Downtown Crossing). It used to be THE place to buy jewelry before the spread of mall jewelers. Try the Jeweler's building at 333 Washington Street. Also, check out pawn brokers, but be careful because they are not always honest.

Ken asks…
