George asks…

How do you value collectibles that were broken by a serviceman?

I can see the values in a book, but now my figurines will have glued heads and glued arms. Is there a percentage of the loss for antique collectibles when they are broken. I Need an approach for insurance reasons for the tradesman's insurance company.

Ling answers:

If this is for a claim also find a china restorer to get quotes for restoration, the insurance should be paying that as well.

Info about antique flag collectibles from tea???? Please help!!?

I just got these antique cloth flags collectibles that are about 2 inches by 1 inch at an antique auction. They said they are from 1929- 1930 and came from tea (like Wade collectables). They have different countries names and symbols of the countries (like beaver for Canada) on them. I was wondering if anyone new what tea they are from and maybe some info about them???
Thanks!!
They are like ribbons!!

Ling answers:

Take them to an antique dealer and hw should be able to value then for you. You need to see a expert in person to get a true value.

A question about collectibles: I have inherited some blue/green Atlas canning jars, are they antique?

I am wondering how old they are or how I might find out. They have flat glass lids and I presume were used with rubber gaskets.
Not planning to sell, just curious.

Ling answers:

Check what they are selling for on eBay. Be sure that any markings on the bottom of the jars are the same as what's sold. Those marks are how you identify the time period the jars were made.

If you don't see much in the way of canning jars, it could be that they're not valuable enough to sell. They may be considered antique, but that doesn't always mean valuable.
