Ruth asks…
how can I sell an antique book in an online auction?

Ling answers:
Do like the others said and open an account on E-bay. There are things you should know about the book before you run it though, as the more information you can put in the listing, the better your luck will be in getting a good price. You will need to know the author, title and publishing date, of course, but you should also take the book to someone who deals in old books and get an appraisal and also a proper evaluation of the book. Like in old coins, sometimes only a slight thing will bring the book down from 'Excellant' to 'Very Good'. An inaccuracy in your listing could mean having to refund someone's money and the book being shipped back to you. And we all know how the Postal Service treats the mail! ![]()
If you have a set price you want for the book, you might also try listing it with Amazon.com. I understand they sell old and out-of-print books from individuals, just like they do for stores.

Susan asks…
Is SOTHEBYS Auctions online a good place to buy ?
Can it be more profitable than buying antiques and art on EBAY? Is Sothebys expensive? Thanks

Ling answers:
Sotheby's sells top of the line antiques and art, they have sold paintings from the masters . Their items usually go for a much higher price, since they are rarer and sought after items for the higher end collector, for more info check out the link to wikipedia/

Mandy asks…
where can i find a dealer-Hilton Head/Savannah area- to buy my antique silver?
I have a lot of mint quality individual pieces of antique silver I'd like to sell. Oneida, International Silver, Paul Revere, several Royal stampings, and others. Where can I go to have them appraised and hopefully sell them besides online auctions? I need some quick cash for the holidays.

Ling answers:
Ebay that shizzle

Mary asks…
how do i sell an expensive antique china set?
I just inherited an antique china set. Ive been told that it has a value of about $2000. But I dont know how to go about selling it. Would I got to a store, an auction house, a fair, online, etc? I am located in NYC.

Ling answers:
Try to find out what you have first. Write down any manufacturing marks from the backs of the plates and do some research, first on the Internet, then if you can't find anything, try taking a piece to an appraiser or auction house. Is the set complete? Incomplete sets aren't worth nearly as much as complete ones when it comes to antique china.
Once you know what you have, search completed listings on eBay. This should help give you an idea of what market price is. If there are no completed listings, you may have a rare set!

Lizzie asks…
Are there any free online auction games where you can bid on items, buy themj and then sell them for a profit?
