Betty asks…
What does "H.L. Registered Design" mean on the inside of my antique cabinet?
We recently purchased an antique corner cabinet/armoire at an antique auction. It's an oak finish with engraving along the sides and top. On the inside, above the mirror, it has "H.L. Registered Design" on a small engraved plate. We searched around google to figure out what that meant for the value of our new piece, which is in excellent condition. Any details would be great from you antique experts!

Ling answers:
Who ever H,L is had his design registered,
with who ever,
it probably a fake,
cabinet builders don,t put there initials on metal plates,
they carve them on the bottom or burn it in,

Richard asks…
How can I find out where auctions are held in Britain?
I'm looking more for antique, books etc auctions. Have looked in local papers but unable to find anything???

Ling answers:
Depending on the subject matter you are looking for you could ring Sotheby's and other auctioneers to find out when specialist book auctions are happening.
Many of the London bookshops are specialist dealers in old and antiquarian books. E-bay is another source if you know what you want.

Sandy asks…
How or Where is the best place to auction my antique without giving out my credit card info?
My antique age is about 99-100 years old.
I hv tried setting up my auction file but at the end ebay wants me to verify my identity thru paypal using credit card no.
I am in Malaysia (neighbour country) I have no problem to personally delivery the item to Thailand.
The problem is that this item must be bought and return/donate back to the country of Thailand.

Ling answers:
Why would you have to give your card no. To sell antique. Only if you are buying something.

Daniel asks…
How (on those antique/auction T/V shows) can something like?
a little stiffie be sold for thousands of pounds?

Ling answers:
Depends who 'the little stiffie' belongs to' Lol
